Common questions

Why do I need to choose a date?

Some places change their clocks during the year. The date lets us use the correct daylight-saving offset, including meetings in the future. If a time repeats or does not exist during a clock change, the converter asks you to clarify.

Someone said “4:30 PM UK time”. What should I select?

Search London or United Kingdom, choose London, and enter the meeting’s date and 16:30. London automatically uses GMT or British Summer Time for that date. Your local time appears above; use Change location for another destination.

Are EST and Eastern Time the same thing?

EST is a fixed UTC−5 offset. New York’s local Eastern Time changes between EST and EDT. For a meeting in New York, choose America/New_York so daylight saving is handled. Ask the sender if an abbreviation is unclear.

Can I save my usual locations?

Yes. Your main locations, clock format, and theme are saved on this browser. A fresh visit starts with two boxes; add more when needed. “Save pair” keeps up to six shortcuts. Use “Copy link” to share an exact meeting date and time across all your comparison boxes. Browser storage may be cleared in private browsing.

How accurate are future conversions?

Conversions use IANA time-zone identifiers and the time-zone rules available to your browser. Governments can change future rules, so keep your browser updated and reconfirm important meetings near the date.
